The UW-Fox men’s basketball team avenged its only loss of the season with a 77-64 home win over UW-Richland. Aaron Gosse (Green Bay NEW Lutheran) had a career high 18 points off the bench to help spark the host Cyclones.
Korey Jagiello scored 16 first half points to help UW-Fox jump out to a 41-27 halftime lead. Gosse also netted three 3-point baskets in the opening half.
In the second half the Road Runners narrowed the gap to 9 points on a few occasions, but could never get any closer. The Cyclones defense held UW-Richland to 24% shooting from 3-point range, while shooting 58% overall in the second half themselves, and 49% for the game.
Jagiello finished with 23 points, on 9 for 11 shooting, and 11 rebounds to lead UW-Fox, while Travis Puyleart (Green Bay Preble) added 10 points. Trevor Smith (Appleton North) had 4 assists and 3 steals for the Cyclones.
The Cyclones move to 16-1 overall on the season. They will return to WCC-East action on Monday night when they travel to UW-Waukesha to take on the second place Cougars. Tip-off is set for 7:30pm.
