The UW-Fox Valley Men's Basketball team defeated UW-Fond du Lac in the championship game of the UW-Fond du Lac tournament 84-71. The Cyclones jumped out to a 35-27 halftime lead, despite only shooting 40% from the floor, and went 18/23 from the free-throw line in the 2nd half to seal the win.
UW-Fox had all five starters in double figures. Cole Meyer (Bayport) led with 19, 18 of them coming in the 2nd half. Chris Searl (Appleton West) finished with 18, while Isiah Mader chipped in 15, and Jake Coenen (Kimberly) 14 for the visiting Cyclones. Karl Sachs (Seymour), who tallied 17 points on the night, went 7/8 from the free-throw line in crunch time to help seal the win. Joe Dachelet (Menasha) and Bill Wildenburg (Manawa) played important minutes off the bench as well for UWFV.
The Cyclones are off until Wednesday November 11th when they host UW-Sheboygan in the team's home opener. That game is an 8:00pm tip-off and also the first WCC game of the year for both teams.
